Getting started

The Göteborg Energi Developer Portal collects the APIs that Göteborg Energi offers to developers, together with guides on how to use them.

Who is this for?

  • Smart-home users who program their own home automation, for example to charge an EV or run a heat pump when the grid fee is low.
  • Energy optimization companies that offer smart control to consumers and businesses.
  • Organizations that optimize their own electricity use, such as transport companies with electric bus fleets.

Available APIs

APIWhat it gives you
Grid Tariff APIAll grid tariffs (elnätstariffer) from Göteborg Energi Nät AB, including hourly prices for tariffs with a dynamic power fee.

Environments

Every API is available in two environments:

EnvironmentBase URLUse it for
UAThttps://api.uat.goteborgenergi.cloudDeveloping and testing your integration.
Productionhttps://api.goteborgenergi.cloudYour live application.

Both environments have the same endpoints and response formats, so switching from UAT to production only means changing the base URL. IDs (for example tariff IDs) are the same in both environments.

note

Hourly prices (/prices) are not yet available in production. Use UAT until they are.

Authentication

None. The APIs are open: you don't need an account, an API key or a token.

Make your first request

Fetch all grid tariffs from UAT:

curl https://api.uat.goteborgenergi.cloud/gridtariff/v0/tariffs/

The response is JSON:

{
"tariffs": [
{
"id": "2d3d3e89-9fb0-4db4-be93-806a0e891fe8",
"name": "Småhus och företag, Max 63A",
"product": "GNM63",
"validPeriod": {
"fromIncluding": "2026-01-01",
"toExcluding": "2027-01-01"
},
...
}
],
"calendarPatterns": [ ... ]
}

Continue with the Grid Tariff API overview to learn what the data means.

Good to know

  • Format: Responses are JSON (UTF-8). Text fields in the data, such as tariff names and descriptions, are in Swedish.

  • Dates and times follow ISO 8601. Timestamps include the UTC offset, for example 2026-10-14T08:00:00+02:00. Durations use ISO 8601 notation: P1M is one month, P1D one day and PT1H one hour.

  • Errors are returned as Problem Details (RFC 9457) with content type application/problem+json:

    {
    "title": "Invalid Date format.",
    "status": 400,
    "detail": "Invalid Date format 'banana' in parameter 'date'."
    }
  • Call the API from your server or app, not from a web page. Requests sent from JavaScript in a browser are currently not supported.

  • Name your application in the User-Agent header, for example my-charging-app/1.2. It helps us see how the API is used. Some generic client names, such as Python's default Python-urllib, are currently blocked.

  • Versioning: The API version is part of the path (/v0).
